Donna has painted from an early age, and sold her first painting while attending college. She studied at the Metropolitan School of Art, Miami, FL; Scottsdale Artists School, Scottsdale, AZ; and with the imminent colorist, Wolf Kahn, who was particularly influential in her abstract period.

Her paintings are in corporate and private collections and have shown in solo and group shows at numerous galleries; Juried shows with Florida Watercolor Society; the Center for the Arts, Vero Beach, FL (now Vero Beach Museum of Art); and the Norton Museum Gallery, Palm Beach. She is a founding member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC; and a charter member of the Center for the Arts, Vero Beach, FL; and St. Johns Cultural Council, St. Augustine FL.

ARBUS Art Magazine:

"Color harmony is everywhere in Ms. Duval's paintings. She considers color harmony more important to her work than subject matter. That is obvious when you look at her sea of turquoise paint and feel the breeze."

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I'm passionate about art and painting!  That passion is the vanguard of any amount of success I've achieved. But, as with most things, hard work is still the most important tool in the box.

Through the years my work has varied in size, medium, and mood. The challenge of experimentation is what I prefer – and the search for a combination of color and tone on the canvas that resonates even when restrained. Some paintings call for a tonalist approach, others entice you to be a colorist or maybe paint in a whimsical way. I find all of it fascinating, and approach each composition with enjoyment. My subject matter is primarily landscape or figurative in nature, as well as small portraits.

I hope  you will enjoy the selections I've included on this website. Please reach out to me anytime through the Contact Page on this website with questions or comments.
